In the summer of 2007, I was looking for pro trainer to take on my green 2.5 year old Brittany. My search lead me to Grouse Tale Shorthairs. It was a bonus that they were less than 2 hours away and I would have the opportunity to visit and see the progress my dog was making. After checking references and meeting with Tom, I was confident that trigger was in good hands. Throughout his training Tom was excellent about updating me on progress and was readily available for advice ever since. In two short months, Tom had trigger whistle and Whoa trained, pointing and holding his birds. Trigger was collar conditioned, and had a solid recall. He was casting side to side and had excellent range for a grouse dog. As many would confirm., I was apprehensive about sending my dog away to a trainer, but after seeing how GT Shorthairs took care of my dog like their own, I was happy I did. I got a much better dog back than the one I sent. I would recommend that any one looking for training for their pointing dog, give Tom a call. You'll be glad you did.

Tom's recognition of genetic potential, knowledge of practical training methods, and his devotion to individual attention,  is producing bird dogs that are a pleasure to both watch, and live with.  Additionally, he knows birds, bird coverts and is great company.    Jerry Northcutt
